Earn a “C” or higher in all nine upper-division Business Core Courses (or equivalents). Each of the nine upper-division Business Core Courses (or equivalents) cannot be attempted more than three times. Drops after the add/drop period, which result in a DR grade, are considered an attempt in the course and count as an unsuccessful enrollment. Business Core Courses include: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

6. QMB 4680, Business Analysis 7. MAN 4720, Strategic Management 8. MAR 3023, Introduction to Marketing 9. QMB 3200, Applied Business Statistic Effective Fall 2017 and going forward, each student within the College of Business gets two drops after the add/drop period, which result in “DR” grades, in their first 60 credits attempted as a College of Business student. Each College of Business student gets two additional drops after the add/drop period, which result in “DR” grades, in the second 60 credits attempted. Unused drops after the add/drop period, which result in “DR” grades, do not carry over from the first 60 credits attempted to the second 60 credits attempted. Students entering the College of Business as transfer students with an A.A. degree from a Florida public college or with 60 or more transfer credits earned from another college or university only get two drops after the add/drop period, which result in “DR” grades. Students with disabilities who need to drop a course due to disability-related reasons are allowed to petition for additional drops after the add/drop period, which result in “DR” grades. Students who can document extenuating circumstances may petition the College for additional drops. Approval to drop additional courses in excess of those allowed must be obtained from the College of Business.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Inference and modeling for business decisions under uncertainty. Topics covered include survey sampling, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing for mean(s), variance(s), and proportion(s), chi-square test for independence and goodness of fit, correlation, linear regression, time series, and analysis of variance. Use of computer packages to solve real business problems. Prerequisites: (a) ACG 3301, CGS 2100 or CGS 2060, ECO 2013, ECO 2023, STA 2023 and MAC 2233 or equivalents with a grade of 'C' or higher; (b) minimum 45 credits earned; (c) only open to Business students. Once you complete your BBA degree, you will be able to: Use quantitative analytical skills to:    

Identify and analyze material factors that are involved in business problems Determine and apply relevant frameworks from Accounting, Finance, Decision Sciences, Marketing, and Management to address business problems Determine and apply appropriate problem-solving techniques to business problems Integrate knowledge across business disciplines to formulate decisions

COURSE OBJECTIVES

   

Apply the conceptual framework of quantitative methods in the decision making process. Use statistical procedures (eg; ANOVA, hypothesis testing, confidence interval) to make a business decision. Model and predict an important business variable using a simple linear regression and a multiple regression Analyze business scenarios and determine the appropriate type of analytical problem solving techniques to utilize for real world business applications

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING ACTIVITIES

Students will work hands on with business analytics tools and techniques. TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The course uses Pearson MyStatLab, which incorporates power point presentations, quizzes, tests, discussion question assignments and homework. Students should be comfortable using it, so they can fully participate and complete all the course requirements. Attendance to the course is expected. MS Excel is the method of calculations in this class. You will be expected to use Excel spreadsheets for solving the problems for the activities. RELIGIOUS HOLIDAYS
