GC MS Lab Report...
Akanksha Chouhan 11/07/2019 GC/MS Laboratory Dali Gao
Introduction:
Gas chromatography is used to separate compounds into their separate components. Mass Spectrography does a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the different components which were differentiated during the gas chromatography phase of the lab. Materials Used:
Data Collected
Analysis:
The starting m/z value correlating with relative abundance was 84. This number correlates to the starting composition of the cyclohexane. As the numbers decreased, it was proven a CH3 was subtracted with each extraction. The cyclohexane calculations were like the following: From 84 to 69, one CH3 was subtracted. 84-15=69. From 69 to 56, a CH was subtracted. 84-13=56. From 56 to 43, another CH was subtracted. 56-13=43. From 43 to 29, a CH2 was subtracted. 43-14=29
From 29 to 15, a CH2 was subtracted. 29-14=15 The Toluene started at a 92 and finished around 45. From 92 to 65, there was a net difference of 27. This indicates a C2H3 was subtracted over the course of the spectrum....
