The doric peplos was a fitted garment worn by men and women made out of wool. The loincloth was worn in Greece and was worn by men and women. The women wore bands to cover their upper body. The chiton, which has a tunic shape was wrapped around the body and pinned to the shoulder. The tunic also called the exomis was worn by the working class man and was pinned to the shoulder. A Greek home was self-sufficient. A Greek’s home was his fortress. It was protected by walls, since they were frequently attacked. Population consisted of men, women, children, foreigners, and slaves. Houses were made of sun dried brick without heat and running water. Women lacked political power and had no control over their lives. Marriages were arranged and men married usually at thirty. Women married at fourteen.
