Welcome Letter to Members Welcome all new and returning members of California Dolphin Swim Team for the year of 2018-2019 swim season. To help you better understand the team structure, procedure, commitment, and responsibility, we prepared this member package for you. California Dolphin Swim Team is a registered USA swimming, year-round, competitive swim team. We provide opportunities for children to grow, develop, mature, and succeed. As a non-profit organization, our team is parent-owned and governed by a board of directors made up of swimmer’s parents. At CDST, swimmers, coaches and parents are all part of the team. The parents support and involvement is essential for the success of the team. The purpose of our program is to help swimmers become stronger physically and mentally. Swimmers will learn discipline, teamwork, and leadership in the sport of swimming. The goal of our program is to train swimmers to swim fast and explore their full potential to achieve excellence in their life. We divided the team into four training groups based on the consideration of the swimmers’ ages, development of technical skills, training abilities, commitment level, maturity, and competitive levels. The small size of the team allows coaches to pay individual attention to each swimmer. We believe the development of a good technical foundation is the key to success in the future. We mostly emphasize on individual technical and aerobic training. We have included all the information in this Member Packet. Please read the information carefully, complete the registration form, sign necessary documents, and return it to CDST at 34075 Fremont Blvd. Fremont, Ca 94555. Please use ‘Contact Us’ link on our team website for further questions.

Group Placement Standards Effective date: September 2018

Definition of Team Groups: To help children achieve their goals, our coaching staff will work with each swimmer in a personal, informative, and positive way. This way, we can guide young swimmers to explore their abilities. It is necessary to set up Group Placement Standards for swimmers to know what is expected to advance from one group to the next. CDST is divided into four training groups based on the consideration of the swimmers’ development of technical skills, training abilities, commitment level, maturity, and competitive levels. This progressive structure provides an opportunity for swimmers to continue to challenge themselves to be successful in the next level. All group placement decisions are based on recommendations made by the coach and in the best interest of swimmers and their long term development. The time standards used are mainly based on the Pacific Swimming age group time standard chart. There are different standards for swimmers trying to achieve their goal one after others.

Group Advance Policy: Swimmer is able to advance to next group base on the evaluation of the head coach and group coach according to qualification criteria. ● Meets group requirements ● Talent/Skill Level ● Commitment (in terms of practices/meets) ● Attitude ● Age ● Coaches’ recommendations & interviews
