Description

Stress Activity PERSONAL STRESS AND STRESSORS: No matter an individual's demographic, every individual will experience stress more than once in their life. After completing two questionaires regarding the level of stress in my life, I realized that I am under a high amount of stress. The first test I completed was from https://www.psycom.net/stress-test. The test was simple and brief asking questions regarding lifestyle choices. My test concluded that attending school, work, and my family life are sources of high amounts of stress. The second test I took was https://www.mhanational.org/getinvolved/stress-screener. This test analyzes an individuals daily routines, eating habits, and sleeping habits. The test stated that I may be experiencing high levels of stress.

RISK OF STRESS Stress effects the mind, body, and soul. While stress clearly effects emotional health, it can also worsen physical health conditions and create new ones. Stress can also cause changes in appetite, lack of sleep, muscle tension, etc (Dehlendorf, 2017). Long term stress risks are things such as heart disease, strokes, asthma, death, etc. Stress also activates an individuals fight or flight response (Dehlendorf, 2017).

PERSONAL STRESS A major stressor for college students is attempting to balance work, class, and a personal life. Since 2020, students have also been forced to deal with a new stressor, COVID-19. COVID-19 has limited students' access to school, social activites, and family. This has cused a major increase in ststudent stress levels.

PERSONAL STRESS (CONT) Students can cope with their stress with positive lifestyle choices. Maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, fulfilling social needs, etc. can all help lessen a students stress (Sarafino, 2017). Many individuals find doing outdoor activities such as sports, hiking, camping, etc are great ways to de-stress.

SELF DISCLOSURE Disclosing personal experiences can be extremely beneficial for the client-clinician relationship (Dehelendorf, 2017). Disclosing personal experiences can build trust, open up communication, prevent misunderstandings, grow empathy, etc. Disclosing personal experiences can also help the client feel less isolated and less judged.
