Nowadays health care can at times be a controversial topic. In regards to that of human rights, some believe that health care should be a given right, free of expense and arduous process. Others deem it fitting that health care should only be given to those who can earn it, as a privilege. Though I disagree that healthcare should be a given right, I will defend its strong suits. America spends more per capita on health care than all but three countries in the world, spending $3,967 per person. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as a human life shouldn’t come with a price tag. Research shows that third world countries with limited resources to that pertaining to the medical field have a lower life span, so it would seem morally right to provide them with the health provisions they need. There are many examples where simple health treatment could save lives. Deamonte Driver was a young boy who died at the age of 12 due to a toothache. This was incredibly preventable, yet since they didn’t have good enough health care dentists wouldn’t see him and infection spread to his brain. This is just one of many unjust examples that universal health care would solve....
