Ethics and the Engineering Profession Homework #7: Applying the MBTI Write a paper (at least 2 full pages) exploring the following topics: • Do you agree with the results of your MBTI test? Why or why not? My MBTI test result showed that I have ISTJ personality. According to the Myers, Briggns, “ISTJ people are reliant. We have quality of Quiet, serious, earn success by thoroughness and dependability. Practical, matter-of-fact, realistic, and responsible. Decide logically what should be done and work toward it steadily, regardless of distraction. Take pleasure in making everything orderly and organized –their work, their home, their life. Value traditions and loyalty.” Almost everything describes above seem to match my character. I tend to work steadily on works. I tend to keep my room, workplace always organize. If see anything off the place in my surrounding I tend to make effort to make sure it goes in the right place. • Describe two recent examples from your life where you have acted “in-type” (i.e., reacted to a situation as predicted by the description for your personality type in the pdf document noted above). Two examples I want to include where I have acted “in-type” are using Sensing and Thinking. I tend to learn and remember using the visual stuff use in class. For one of my class, I had to memorize 18,20 pages of notes. I was sure if I try to memorize it all even just memorizing few every day I would forget half of it. So, I selected a section that seems more important and create a visual stuff that is closely related to that definition. It helped me memorize better. Also, another example is during my stat class where I was able to better asses the data while using graphs and figures than just looking at numerical data’s. Similarly, my behavior and thinking characteristic defined in MBTI test very much matches. I tend to think through before replying to any questions. I tend to follow step by step

rules while solving problems. When I am writing an code for any class or my personal projects I always divide them into small pieces. I write a small code and test it before I move forward with another piece. In the same way, I realized in my calculus class, some people tend to calculate integrations and other very quickly. But for me I always follow a step by step process even for small problems. • Describe two recent examples from your life where you have acted “out-of-type” (i.e., reacted to a situation other than as predicted by the description for your personality type in the pdf document noted above). Two recent example I want to mention where I have acted “out-of-type” would be for Introverts and Judging characters. My MBTI test shows that I am very introvert but I have few examples where I am seen to be extrovert. I love going out with friends. I have chosen to work in group rather than working alone on my class projects and also actively participate in group chats. Also, at my internship I go and talk to my co-workers a lot, ask them questions, make outing plans rather than just sitting on my desk all day and coding. One of the example where I act “outof-type” is in class. I ask a lot of question to my professor during the class time which does not go along with introvert character. In the same way, judging character people are well organized and meet deadlines. One example that shows I acted “out-of-type” was last week. I had two projects due and I had barely started until the night before. I stayed up all night to finish one of the two but the other one I missed the deadline. Because of my unorganized schedule I was not able to meet the deadline showing that sometimes I tend to work opposite than shown in my MBTI test....
