The best thing about this online application is that it can be an avenue for both teachers and students to continue teaching and learning outside the four walls of the classroom. As faculty members who are being equipped and empowered to conduct various Flexible Learning Modalities, Facebook Groups is one of the many applications to add to our repertoire of digital cache of teaching tools. Important Note: It is recommended to use Laptop of Desktop to manage units especially in uploading the modules and lecture materials. You can use your mobile phone to monitor classes and manage posts. This manual presents to us the steps on how to create a Facebook Social Learning Group. So how do we exactly do it? USING LAPTOP OR DESKTOP Start: 1. Open your Facebook account. 2. In the notification bar, click “Create” and select “Group”.

3. Name your Group (write the class name); select “Private” for group privacy; press “Hidden” to hide the group from those who are not a member of your class; check “Pin to Shortcuts” then click “Create”.

5. To “Change” the Group Type, select Landing Tab to “Units”, and write your class “Description”.

6. Change the “Group Type” to “Social Learning” and click “Save”. This function will allow you to use Facebook Groups better specifically for instructional delivery.

How to Invite Students (Select Option) Inviting students to the Facebook Group that you have created for their class is easy, just follow the options below based on your preference. Option 1: Copy the URL of the group and share to your students.

2. Create a “Unit Name” and “Unit Description”. Click “Create Unit”.

How to Edit the Unit In your unit, click the icon “Edit this Unit”. You can edit the” Unit Name” and “Description”, then click “Save” when done.

USERS MANUAL IN CREATING A FACEBOOK SOCIAL LEARNING GROUP How to Add Course Materials to the Unit Another good thing about the Facebook Groups is that the teacher can add a unit devoted only for a specific subject matter. Follow the steps below on how to do it. 1. In your class, click the “Unit”.

2. Manage your “Unit” using the different features. Post – Post Description of the Materials and add “Media” such as video, audio, and photo. Click “Post” when done.

File – You can upload a file of your module in PDF, MS Word, MS Excel, or PowerPoint Slides. Write the description of the material, “Choose File” in your computer to upload and click “Post” when done.

Teachers can create quizzes using this online application, just follow the steps below. Click “Create Quiz”.

Enter the “Quiz Title”, set the “Passing Score” percentage, enter your “Question”, enter the “Answers” (you can add multiple answers), “Check” the correct answer. You can add more questions by repeating the process then click “Done” once finished.

Edit the questions and answers, then click “Done” when finished. How to Download Quiz Results In your quiz, click the “3 dots (…) “ and select “Download Results”.

The excel file which contains the results of the quiz will be downloaded in your computer, locate the file and open to see the data.
