Description

Envi.Sci Mr. Gallina Hydroponics Hydroponics- The process of growing plants in sand, gravel, or liquid, with added nutrients but without soil. Hydroponics Setups

Plants that can grow- Vegetables that grow beneath the soil, such as onions, leeks, carrots, parsnips, potatoes, yams and radishes will also grow hydroponically, but may require extra care. Some crops to avoid are corn, zucchini, summer squash, and vining plants. Materials- Growing Chamber (or tray), Reservoir, Submersible, Pump Delivery System, Simple Timer, Air Pump, Grow Lights (Depending on the type of system we are creating. Nutrients- Most of the principles that apply to soil fertilizers also apply to hydroponic fertilizers, or nutrient solutions. A hydroponic nutrient solution contains all the elements that the plant normally would get from the soil.

Space Needed- It depends on the type of crops that will be planted. After the plants grow- We can have a feast :), or have a QC Plant store where we can sell them, or not.

2/2- Germination Respond: - What is Germination? Germination is the process by which a plant grows from a seed. The most common example of germination is the sprouting of a seedling from a seed of an angiosperm or gymnosperm. In addition, the growth of a sporeling from a spore, such as the growth of hyphae from fungal spores, is also germination.

-

How do we germinate seeds for hydroponics?

Step 1: Get Your Materials Step 2: Fill The Cloner With Water Step 3: Set Up the Air Pump Step 4: Place Starter Plugs and Seeds Step 5: Maintenance - Part One: The Basic Setup Part Two: Making Sure Seeds Germinate Part Three: pH Water and Add Nutrients

- How long does germination take? Usually it takes 1 to 2 weeks to germinate. Some plants such as tomato, chili pepper and stevia may take up to 3 weeks. Keep the transparent germination domes on the refills until the sprouts reach them.

-

What will the seed look like when it is ready to be planted?

- How do we plant the seed for hydroponics? With hydroponics, it is best to start your seeds in cubes of inorganic material, not soil. When they are ready, you just place the entire plug into the hydroponic media bed.

2/3 - Nutrients! - What is the best hydroponic nutrients mix for butterhead lettuce?

Hydroponic Lettuce Fertilizer 24-15-36 - 2 Lb. http://www.amazon.com/Hydroponic-Lettuce-Fertilizer-24-15-36-Lb/d p/B00CLIVSFU - Hydroponic - Check In. TOWER - What is good? The setup is good, The pump everything is working well & the water is flowing well. - What is bad? The water is funky, The tubes I feel needs to be clean and the water needs to be changed regularly & the tower is the slowest. - What are the next steps? -After the water are changed etc, The soil/Plants can have a better chance in growing better. DEEP TUB - Again the setup is good, the seeds are all growing well etc. - I think the water should be changed also even though it contains a bubbler. - Wait for the lettuces to grow. SHALLOW - The plants are good. - Change the water regularly. - Wait for the lettuces to grow....
