Lauren Farrell I Am A Star 1) The name of the little girl in the memoir was Inge Auerbacher. 2) The book I Am A Star, is the story of a little girl and how she survived the Holocaust. All jewish people were required to wear a yellow star to symbolize that they were jewish. This star allowed the German people to be treated unfairly and poorly. This star is the reason Inge went through all the hardships growing up. She also does not let the star take away from who she is. She is proud that she was able to overcome such a terrible experience. She wrote this book to share her experience with others. Inge is proud to be jewish that is why the title of her book is I Am A Star. 3) This book has a connection to the Sneetches, by Dr.Seuss. In the children's book the sneetches are required to wear stars on their belly. These stars allowed them to be discriminated against and were the reason they had to do such tedious labor. Just because someone with power said so. This relates to how the jewish felt when they were required to wear their yellow star enforced by Hilter. The children’s book explains a tragic event in simple terms so a child will be able to understand the dicrimination....
