Your Views on the Layout  This type of lay out gives powerful appeal equally important news or stories.

 

This type of lay out might readily allow the readers to decide right away what articles to read and what not to draw attention at. Horizontal seems to have monotonous lay out. Each stories seeks the attention of the readers, therefore, more important stories lost its values? Most likely, readers will read all the news stories. READERS CAN EASILY CAPTURE THE MOST IMPORTANT NEWS and get them through the page.

LAYOUT OR MAKE UP RELUCIO, CATHERINE ED ENGLISH 401 CAMPUS JOURNALISM V. ASSESSMENT After learning the different types of lay out, with the newsletter which will serve as your final output in this course, create a sketch on bond papers of your lay out applying all the types of front page make up, lay outing types etc. Take pictures of your work then upload them in your folder.

VI. REFLECTION 1. What is the most important thing you learned in this module? I learned that newspaper make up is essential not only to provide pleasant appearance to the newspapers but also to stipulate an arrangement according to importance of the news so that it will be easier to read thus, achieve its objective.

2. Give at least 3 major takeaways from the topics presented in this module.

 

There are six types of front page which includes Perfect Balance, Brace or Focus, Broken Column, Occult, Streamline, and Circus Makeup. These come with the different layout but all are aligned to the objective of giving prominence to the news according to its importance, to make it look attractive and easy to read. To achieve effective Make up, Journalist must keep in mind the principles to follow journalism: unity, balance, emphasis, movement, proportion and contrast. The four types of lay out includes quadrant, horizontal, circus and brace make up.

3. What was most challenging or least interesting activity you performed? The most challenging activity for me is identifying the type of lay out in a certain newspaper, I had a hard time understanding what some lay out really looks like since there is only one or no example, trying to check online as well, I cannot access to the pictures. I think, if I still have more time to make myself familiar with this type of lay outs it will be easier for me to answer the module. 4. What do you want to learn more about?

LAYOUT OR MAKE UP RELUCIO, CATHERINE ED ENGLISH 401 CAMPUS JOURNALISM I wanted to be more familiar of the make-up and lay out of newspaper and what is more effective in attracting the eyes of the readers before I created a newsletter. 5. What can/should you do with what you learned? I will use all the knowledge and skills that I acquired from doing this module in creating a newsletter. Additionally, as a future educator, I can also use these knowledge and skills to train students if given a chance to handle extra-curricular activities in journalism...
