Kimberly Hoover ERCH 435 Dr. Colabucci September 17, 2017 Library Find (Thunder Boy Jr.) For the library find I chose to go to my local library, the Elizabethtown Public Library since in my opinion there is a rather large selection. I went into this with pretty much no ideas in mind, except that I wanted a book that would showcase diversity. Due to my major indecisiveness I picked out four books to take home and narrow it down to my favorite (Thunder Boy Jr., Deep in the Sahara, Georgia’s Bones, and Rosie Revere, Engineer). It was a difficult decision because I liked Thunder Boy Jr. and Rosie Revere, Engineer basically the same. I decided to go with Thunder Boy Jr. because I felt the plot was a lot better and was a little shorter. I really love this book and will likely use it for something else in this course, the plot is fantastic, there are diverse characters which is important to me as a future educator, and I think the illustrations are beautiful. Plus, the author and illustrator are both from diverse backgrounds and it adds credibility to the book for me. I learned from the reviews and catalog record that this book has qualified for some prestigious awards, such as the Kirkus, and has raving
reviews from Booklist and Kirkus, which are well-known and great to get a positive review from....
