AP Human Geography Mapping Assingment The southern part of Omaha. The most memorable and fearful moments of my life have happened there. 3701 S 10th St, Omaha, NE 68107, the address of the one the world most exotic zoos. The Henry Doorly Zoo. When I look back at my childhood, I would have to say that I had the most fun at our local zoo. When I went to the zoo I just had that feeling that you can get nowhere else. Various animals, a petting zoo, a theatre, and a skyfari. The zoo had it all. But one memory in particular makes this place so special for me. On a hot summer day, the whole family was ready for a day filled of joy, laughter, and adventure at the Henry Doorly Zoo. After watching a documentary over the polar express at the Lorax Imax theatre, my sister decided that it was the ideal time to go the petting zoo, which turned out to be one of my biggest mistakes. As we approached the petting zoo, our dad reminded us to not annoy or harass the animals in any way. Well lets just say that I didn’t take my dad seriously. My sister and I entered the petting zoo and ran over to closest goat with joy and excitement. At first, I was a bit scared to touch it, but as my sister started petting the goat I followed her footsteps. As I became more comfortable with the presence of the goat right next to me, I start to tickle it around it’s neck and mouth, and in a split second my family heard me yell ‘OUCH’ as loud as I could. It turns out that you’re not supposed to mess with any animal around the mouth area, because THEY WILL BITE YOUR FINGER! A normal Saturday turned out to be one of most embarrassing days of my entire life. Across the street we have the famous Rosenblatt Stadium. During the summer of 09, my sister and I did the summer reading program. This program motivates students to reach there reading goal by rewarding them prizes as they progress. My sister and I ended up winning four tickets to the next Omaha Royals game at Rosenblatt. Lucky for us, the next game was on a Saturday which meant the whole family was going. We had front row tickets and we were in the shade. How much better can it get than that? During the bottom of the 7th inning, I needed a bathroom break, so my dad took me to the restroom. So I went the restroom, did my business then I came out outside and my dad was nowhere to be found. I looked and looked, but I still could not find him. I started to walk around the complex, but there was no site of my father. I started to panic which eventually lead to some crying. But luckily for me, a good samaritan approached me, and helped me out by lending their phone so that I could call my dad. Finally, I was reunited with my family. It turned out that my dad was also in the restroom. But by the time he was out of the restroom I had already wandered off to another part of the ballpark. Making this one the most dreadful and scariest day of my entire life. These experiences and memories make this part of Omaha so unforgettable and important for me....
