Ethics: Etymologically, “ethics” is derived from the Greek word “ethos” which means “character” or “conduct”. Ethics is not limited to the actions or behaviors of an individual but includes practices of a profession, an organization, a government agency or a corporation.

Ethics Programs: “Typically, ethics programs convey corporate values, often using codes and policies to guide decisions and behavior, and can include extensive training and evaluating, depending on the organization.

Mission Statement: University Ethics and Compliance is a supportive and creative partner that will protect the University and its community by setting the standard for ethical and appropriate business conduct by providing support and education to help meet complex compliance requirements; promoting an environment focused on respect and integrity.

Code of Ethics for students – Core values The Code of Student Conduct has been formulated to provide a clear statement of the University’s expectations of students in respect of academic matters and personal behavior.

➢ Integrity: Integrity is defined as, “Adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.” Students with integrity will work hard to earn their degrees in a fair and honest way by putting in the hours to study and complete assignments. Many studies have found that Students who engage in academically dishonest practices in class are significantly more likely to be dishonest, cheat, or even commit crimes like fraud or stealing in the workplace.

➢ Respect: Respect could be defined as “a feeling or understanding that someone or something is important, serious, etc., and should be treated in an appropriate way”. Being respectful towards people is a key aspect in life in order to form and maintain positive relationships in order to become successful.

➢ Discipline: The word “Discipline” comes from the word “Disciple” meaning a learner. Discipline means obey certain rules. There are some rules that control our activities. Without it, there will be complete disorder everywhere in our society.

➢ Open-mindedness: Being open-minded means, you have a willingness to listen to other ideas and opinions and consider the possibility that you are wrong or may change your own perspective. Openmindedness can advance mutual understanding, which accommodates the ideal of students working constructively toward achieving common goals, despite intense disagreement.

➢ Academic Honesty: Students are expected to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity. Work that is not off the student’s own creation will receive on credit.

Ways of adding Ethics to Classroom There are four main approaches to teaching ethics: devising a standalone class, infusing ethics into all core courses, combining the two approaches, and promoting extracurricular activities.

Student responsibilities towards the members of the University The code of ethical students defines the rights and students’ responsibilities. These rights and responsibilities are at the foundation of the relationship between members of the university community, and students. It has been formulated to provide a clear statement of the University’s expectations of students in respect of academic matters and personal behavior.

Student responsibilities towards other students Students have to treat other students with respect, dignity, impartiality, courtesy and sensitivity maintain a cooperative and collaborative approach to inter-personal relationships.
