Course Description: This course focuses on individual, group, and organizatonal behaviour. The course is designed to help students develop an understanding of organizatonal behaviour theory and its applicaton in the business workplace. Students will learn skills and techniques to help organizatons function more effectvely and eficiently.

Course Objectives : Successful students will be able to: 1. Evaluate the opportunites that change creates for organizatonal behavior 2. Describe factors that affect organizatons competng in a global economy 3. Evaluate a situaton to determine if a person is actng ethically and professionally 4. Describe the pillars of morality and the part that empathy plays in moral behavior 5. Explain how personality influences behaviour in organizatons 6. Distnguish between organizatonal citzenship and deviant workplace behavior 7. Demonstrate motvatonal techniques with staff 8. Design an orientation program 9. Describe the psycho-physiology of the stress cycle 10. Handle personal stress in the workplace 11. Follow a systematc decision-making model and demonstrate how partcipaton can improve decisionmaking 12. Describe and analyze forms and sources of power in organizatons 13. 15. Create a career/life plan that includes career anchors, multple pathways, psychological contract, mentorship and maintenance plans

Program Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of the Post Degree Diploma in Canadian Business Management, successful students will be able to:

1. Communicate effectvely as business professionals 2. Work with others to solve problems and manage projects 3. Demonstrate leadership competencies in the business sector 4.

Evaluate financial informaton and financial implications related to business decisions to support the goals of a business enterprise

5. Improve business procedures by applying up to date principles of operatons management 6.

Apply critcal thinking and problem-solving techniques to make sound management decisions and recommendations

7. Manage basic human relatons issues in a business setng 8. Manage cross culturally with adaptability, flexibility, openness and confidence 9.

Evaluate the impact of various economic, legal, cultural, politcal and geopolitical systems on business and leadership

10. Act in an ethical and socially responsible manner within the legal framework of the Canadian business sector 11. Employ sustainability decision-making and practces in their work as business professionals

Certifiedd o ct o r’s note will be required if you miss any quizzes or exams • Punctuality is important in any business context and as such is very important in this class. All students are expected to be on Zoom at the tme class starts. • Students should ensure that they look professional while on Zoom.

• Actve partcipaton is required in class. Attendance does not equal partcipation. • Some ways of actvely partcipatng in class are: Asking thoughtful questions about the course content or readings Participating in all class activities Participating in class discussion or debate

• I will post all course work, homework and assignments and resources on Moodle. You can access Moodle through the myvcc.ca website.

Weekly In-Class Assignments: • Each week we will have various actvites based on the week’s topic, as per the schedule below. • Preparaton for all assignments and quizzes is required to pass this course. Assignments should be submitted in Moodle in Mircosoft Word format with citations in APA format.
