Enriching Rural Life INTRODUCTION:The NGO which I had worked is “AP NGO Paderu” Our NGO deals with: • Education facilities or problems faced by children in rural areas. • Provides medical facilities by conducting medical camps. Educational facilities like going to the children of elementary schools in rural areas and finding the problems faced by them and talked to the authorities about the problem faced by them. Medical camps provide medicines, polio vaccination and vaccines for other diseases like fever. medical camps are held once or twice a week .I went with vice president of NGO and met the health supervisor of our area and talked about the problems faced by the people due to lack of proper medical camps in our locality.

Problem identification and the cause of the problem:1.Problems based on education facilities in rural areas :People in rural areas are thinking that government schools are not having good standard. So they are making their children joining in private schools even by lending money from others. Due to this the number of children in government schools are decreasing every year in Andhra Pradesh. This leads to closing of some elementary schools permanently or lack of things wanted to maintain standards in school. Parents are the main reason for lack of education for women as they want to marry their daughter after they attain the age of 18yrs. 2.Problems based on medical camps:Some people cannot afford medicines or treatment even for small diseases, So medical camps conducted by our NGO provides medicines and treatment for them .Also most of the people are uneducated so they don’t take precautions for their health and don’t aware of the deadly diseases spreading in our area .so to bring awareness to the people we went with the NGO officers.

Objectives to be achieved:• The main objective for taking this task is lack of womens education in rural areas. Womens are facing problems by their parents because their parents don’t know the value of education. After reaching the age of 18yrs ,the parents are egerly waiting for marrying the girl. • Making people understand about the importance of government schools. • Providing charts, books and other stationery goods to the elementary schools in rural areas. • Providing medicines and treatment to poor people in rural areas • Helping illiterate people to obtain all government schemes and make them understand how to carryout any problem related to government.

• Encouraging the rural folks to participate actively in cultural activities ,art sports and science activities. • To initiate a process of participatory development • To acknowledge the people about the importance of cleanliness as we all know that cleanliness is next to godliness. When the place is clean and green our health will also be hygienic. • Bringing awareness to the people to save water as it is very important and also for our future generatiom. • Maximum utilization of local resources without adversely affecting the environment. • To improve life quality of the people.

Various steps taken to achieve the objectives:• Visited so many elementary schools in our mandal and knowing their problems. Bringing awareness to people about the importance of government schools in rural areas by campaign. We provided charts, books and other stationery goods to the children in elementary schools in rural areas. In one school, some children are mentally and physically handicapped and they asked us to provide some physiotherapic instruments like a type of cycle for their treatment purpose. Our NGO will provide the instruments that they are asked soon. We participated in meeting held by “mandal educational officer” in one of the high school in my town. Head master and one teacher from each school in our mandal attended that meeting. We explained about our NGO and our distribution of charts and other goods to the children in elementary schools, so we don’t have to introduce ourselves again and again in each school. usually we distribute charts in elementary schools but management of some schools asked books and stationery. so we started distributing them also. Our NGO already distributed charts in paderu mandal and after we joined work we started distributing in hukumpeta mandal in our nearby village.

• Our NGO conducts medical camps, although we don’t know more about medical camps as we have visited only once. But we had enquired about the work done by camps. We came to know that they provide polio drops for the children under 6 years of age in order to secure them from various diseases. They will provide vaccine to everyone who are suffering from fevers like typhoid, malaria etc. and they also provide tablets or tonics required by them.

• Almost most of the time our NGO made us work under legal aid. As I said in introduction, we have legal aid clinics in M.R.O office and Municipal office in our town. Some people who had known about this legal aid clinics used to come and solve their problems. • I went to the health supervisor of our area and talked about the problems faced by the people in our area. • The major issue in our area is cleanliness. The municipal corporation is not doing there work everyday they are coming once in a week.so I and vice president NGO went to the schools and explained them how to keep our surrounding clean . we gave charts to them and showed videos to them so that they can understand clearly about cleanliness. • I talked to the headmaster of the school in our area about the importance of education. I also asked why the strength of the government school is decreasing day by day and he said that most of the people are not willing to study and their parents also not sending the children to the school instead of that they are sending their children for work. To overcome this problem I told the NGO officers to give complaint about the child labour but the officer said that the police will not take action against this as they are agency members they have the rights to work in any age. But he said we can motivate them by going to the schools but I don’t have the time to do that so I didn’t take any action to this. • Also children are facing problem with the money that’s why they are not going to the schools. Our NGO is very small we don’t get any funds the people working in our NGO are teachers and health supervisors so they donate few money for the sake of people but this money cant help us so we didn’t do anything with this problem but we went for fund raising. • I took books from my friends and distributed all the books to the children for their future studies. It would help them somehow we don’t know that’s why I gave to them.

Effectiveness of the Project In this project ,I went with my friends they saw the all the problems of our area and by seeing the problems my friends also inspired and helped me in every situation. Also when I went to the school to bring awareness about the importance of education the children are very inspired by me and by my work I did in two days. They inspired a lot and I am thinking that they will also continue this if I am not there with them. By this the children and the adults also will get some social responsibility and feel proud that they had contributed something to the society. Now they will know the importance of education learn something about their life. The people learn to keep their surrounding clean and to be healthy by following the rules .This project will effect them in their life by doing everything that we did to them they will remember us for sure. The majority of the students who studied in private ,government schools and colleges throw away or give their books to the scrap shops so that they will get some money instead of that we have to use that in proper way so many children interested in studies but due to their family problems they are not studying and some don’t have money to buy books our books will help them a lot. We can donate books to our local library also they will distribute to the children if we feel shy to distribute.

Conclusion In recent years, many social forces have changed community life and the expectation for young people. In India the main problem is poverty. People are living below the poverty line. There are so many problems in India for which the Indian Government has been working for years. Besides that nowadays NGO’s are working for helping our community. So they need volunteers manpower. Through community development project they are getting help by us. It was designed to be an innovative attempt to accomplish community development in rural areas. So we should contribute something to our community that will not make our community but also the entire world .everyone should get some social responsibility in present generation otherwise we will give empty earth to our future generation....
