INSTRUCTIONS: 1. For each chapter that teaches about medications, fill in the following table regarding the chosen meds. CLASS: Beta Blocker GENERIC NAME: Mirabregon TRADE NAMES: Myrbetriq MOA: beta3 agonist, treats overactive bladder, it affects the detrusor muscles and the urothelium (epithelial lining in the lower urinary tract) by relaxing them to increase bladder capacity INDICATIONS: relax detrusor muscles to allow bladder to have more capacity so there is not leakage, urgent feeling to urinate, and to stop the muscle contractions in the bladder CONTRAINDICATIONS/PRECAUTIONS: people with hypertension, people who are allergic to mirabregon, pregnant and/or breastfeeding women INTERACTIONS with other Drugs/Substances: should not be used with silodosin, thioridazine, and other chemotherapeutic agent. Can increase the effects of desipramine, digoxin, aripiprazole, colchicine. Decreases effects of metoprolol, tamoxifen, tramadol, and codeine. PATIENT RESPONSE / REACTIONS: COMMON SIDE EFFECTS: ADVERSE REACTIONS: S/S TOXICITY: TOXICITY/OVERDOSE TX: Headache, dizziness, DESIRED OUTCOME: N/A N/A Hypertension, blindness, bladder pain, blurred vision vomiting, urinary tract Treat overactive bladder and help with urination control infection, angioedema, failure NURSING ACTIONS: Mirabegron should be administered PO once daily. PO dosage should be 25 mg and may increase to 50 mg on need/ tolerance after 8 weeks. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water and should not be broken, crushed, or chewed.

ASSESS: Assess patient for urinary urgency, frequency, and urge periodically during therapy. Monitor BP prior to starting and periodically during therapy because there may be an increase in BP. Monitor for signs and symptoms of angioedema (allergic reaction).

CARE/IMPLEMENT: PO administer 25 mg of mirabegron once daily at the same time each day with water. Do not break, crush, or chew.

TEACH: Instruct patient to take mirabegron as directed. If a dose is missed, omit dose and begin taking the next day. Do not take 2 doses on the same day. Inform patient that medication may cause in increase in BP, and to check BP periodically. May cause dizziness. Caution patient to avoid driving or other activities requiring alertness until response to medication is known. Advise patient to notify health care professional if difficulty emptying bladder occurs. Also all medications, vitamins, and

EVALUATE: Check for decreased urinary frequency, urgency, and urge incontinence. Also check BP and alertness.
