Simulation Overview: As an integral component of this course students will compete in the Marketplace simulation. Working in teams of 3-4 students you will form a “virtual” company division and make critical marketing mix decisions in order to increase your firm’s profitability and win market share from your competitors. Virtual divisions compete in the global personal computer industry and members of your team will have responsibility for key decisions in areas such as brand development, pricing, advertising, sales force management and market segmentation. Your team will also be required to analyze and interpret marketing research data in order to make more informed business decisions. No marks will be awarded to students for the competitive component if they do not register for, and participate, in the simulation. Access to the online simulation is restricted to registered students. Each student is required to purchase a license for the game and will be given a login password. Licenses are available online.
