Alexis Perrone intro to criminology Module 2 essay The first major principle of the classical school of criminology is their perspective. their perspective is that they see human beings as fundamental rationally, they also portray the pain and pledge the two main determinants of human behavior. While always seeing that punishment is necessary to deter law violators as setting an example to others. The other main principle of the classical school is that it was developed on the idea that people will have free will in making their decisions and that can be instrument can be entertaining as long as the punishment is proportional and fixed the crime at least carried out promptly. The important thinkers of the classical school of criminology are Jeremy Bentham and Cesare de Beccaria. they are also known as the founding fathers of criminology. Their way of thinking provided a way to deter criminals from committing a crime. they thought that with every crime committed a punishment should be dealt out, and the punishment should fit the crime, and be carried out promptly. because of this, this is how the United States criminal justice system works today. although it does stop many people from committing crimes there are still individuals who are criminals and do commit crimes and break the law. A shortcoming of the classical school of criminology is the lack of attention given to the motivation or motive for an individual to commit a crime. Their main focus was on providing a reasonable individual to not commit a crime while not focusing on the reasons why they committed the crime. they are mainly known for the punishment idea, they came up with a very good deterrent for criminals and that is to punish them when they break the law, but they never did any real research to figure out why these individuals were committing crimes and breaking laws. They only focused on the overall outcome of the individual's punishment....
