Module Five Question 1 a. Was this TED Talk engaging? Did you want to keep listening? Why or why not? b. During the presentation, did you ever feel lost or confused? Did you understand the technical concepts that Sabeti presented when explaining her work? c. After listening to her talk, do you feel personally connected to the issue? Does her work affect you? Why or why not? d. Discuss at least one potential drawback of Sabeti's approach that you want to see her address in future presentations, publications, or research.

a.) This TED Talk was pretty engaging, I wanted to keep listening and learn more about what Sabeti had to say. I lived in New York when I first heard about the Ebola virus, a guy on the subway train was the first to have it, and it was a horrifying situation for everyone in the city. So, I felt connected to what she was talking about.? b.) I did not feel lost or confused throughout Sabeti's presentation. She had clear definitions for vocabulary that her audience may not be familiar with.? c.) I did feel personally affected by the issue she was mentioning, which was more than just the Ebola virus, but all viruses and the need for everyone to work together to help fight these viruses. A few years later, now we are dealing with a pandemic that has kept us locked down for almost a whole year. It makes me wonder if countries are working together this time or still working individually not helping each other fight this virus.? d.) There were certain things Sabeti was unclear of. Such as the deaths of the 5 doctors she was working with, did they die due to the Ebola virus, or due to being on the frontlines of wherever they were.? Module Five Question 2 Who is the audience of Pardis Sabeti's TED Talk? Focus not only on the audience shown when the camera cuts away from the stage but also on Sabeti's message and how she chooses to present this message. Who does it seem like she's talking to? What evidence do you rely on to help answer this question?

Sabeti's audience was healthcare workers, the media, and researchers. She constantly mentions how people need to work together if they want to fight the virus effectively. She also mentions an app created to influence worldwide input on how to fight the virus, yet no one else shared data to help.? Module Five Question 3 How does Pardis Sabeti tailor the message of her presentation to her audience?

Sabeti tailors the message of her presentation to her audience by creating a speech almost meant to motivate and encourage everyone to come together to help fight the virus. Creating an image for the audience of everyone ALONE trying to figure out the virus, rather than working TOGETHER. She also puts up pictures of her friends lost during the virus to make people feel emotional about the topic. She levels with the audience speaking in direct terms. And concludes the talk by explaining that by working together we can fight against viruses today and in the future, shedding hope to her audience.?...
