Patients from question two will face many health problems in their life. One of the main concerns will be cardiovascular diseases. It can build up fat and clog veins. They can deal with heart attacks or heart failure. They could also deal with fatty liver disease. Once the cardiovascular system goes, the other systems of the body start to go down hill. 4 Was the cholesterol level for patient 4 low, desirable, or high? How well did the results compare with your prediction? What advice about diet and exercise would you give to this patient? Why? Your answer: Patient number four had a borderline elevated cholesterol level. It was only slightly high. My prediction was only slightly correct. It was high, however it was not super abnormal. I would advise this patient to cut down on the cooking greases and increase the exercise. If he doesn't get his cholesterol under control now, it will only get worse. Then he will be at risk for cholesterol induced diseases. 5 Describe some reasons why a patient might have abnormally low blood cholesterol. Your answer: Low cholesterol is not very common. However, low cholesterol could come from malnutrition. When they suffer from malnutrition, they cannot absorb nutrients or other components we get from food. It could also be caused by hormone imbalances. Liver and intestinal damage or diseases have also been known to cause problems with cholesterol.
