End of Chapter Textbook Problems – Nomenclature and Spectroscopy Edition
These problems have been selected to reinforce your skills with regards to spectroscopy and nomenclature. Unless instructed otherwise, provide the name of the molecule rather than simply providing the structure. If the names are not provided in the solutions manual then you can post your answers on the Discussion Board under “Supplemental Materials”. Problems: Chapter 16: 16, 17 (There is more than one option for Compound B. Make sure to choose one that allows for the stated chemistry to occur. Change Alert: For the problem replace “warming in dilute acid” (wrong) to “heated in the presence of p-TsOH.” (better). Chapter 17: For these problems you can ignore the 13C NMR data but it can be helpful in identifying the number of unique carbons. 17 a-h, i (Mistake Alert from 6th edition and maybe the 7th edition?: signal @ 3.68ppm should be a triplet and not a singlet). Chapter 18: 15, 16, 17, 18 a-e, f (don’t worry about naming this one)
Spectroscopy Problems from Chapters 21 and 22 will be released with the general textbook EOCs....
