PAD120 : INTRODUCTION TO POLITICAL SCIENCE QUESTIONS : 1) What is political science Political science consists of many definitions. Many scholars define political science from different aspects. Aristotle defines it as the master of science. By that, political science is known as a knowledge on how a state is controlled. Not only that, from Islamic perspectives it is also studies not only state but a whole unity. For example we need to understand the needs of each one of the people. Lastly, it is about power relationship. 2) Explain the four scope of political science The first one is political theory which referring to the history of politics idea and the present politics thinker. For example Aristotle and Ibn Khaldun. Next, the international relations which focuses on foreign affairs or global politics. A country must engage with foreign affairs so that we are not living in an isolation. This to make sure that we can get up to date with what is happening in the world. For example of an international organization is United Nations (UN). The third scope is comparative politics and government which studies the difference in similarities between states. For example the government system in Malaysia and United Kingdom is both the same which is democracy but there are still some different in the government. Lastly is public administration which is the managing and administering the government. It is also a government machinery to execute the public policies and look after the people. 3) What are the four related fields of political science Firstly, economics fields where the government are using the economics formula in redistributing the resources to fulfil people’s satisfaction. Political instability affects the economy. Secondly, history. We learn from the history to become better and to provide understanding and we also can expecting what would happen if it is already happening in the past. Next, Law which means rules and regulation that enforced by the government. Lastly, psychology because It has contributed greatly to political science’s understanding of such phenomena as nationalism, revolutionary leadership, voting behaviour and causes of war.

4) Why do we need to learn and understand political science? In my opinion, we need to learn and understand political science because it is affecting our life directly or indirectly. Our rights and responsibilities as a citizen is a fundamentally political science that we have to understand clearly. We also need to know how government works in delivering their services to the public and how efficient and effective they are in carrying out their responsibilities. If we do not acknowledge about these matters we will missed out and easily deceived by irresponsible parties. That is why we should learn and understand political science...
