The focus is those two friends with their surprised facial expression. This is because Mitsuha changed her hairstyle to shorter and her appearance with yukata on gives a different impression to her friends - rather more mature state. The head of Mitsuha is cut out from the scene which inspires the audience to inflate their own image of the changed Mitsuha’s appearance. Question 3: 「すっげー。。。わぁ。。。」What is the significance of the comet splitting into two in this scene? Sample Answer: (each teacher’s discretion) Question 4: What prescribed issue(s) is/are revealed in this extract? Answer with reference to this text and the film as a whole. Sample Answer: “Connectedness” - Even with close friendship, two friends were shocked/surprised by the changed appearance (hairstyle and yukata) of Mitsuha. There is a barrier between people and it is uncrossable even among the close relationship. “Journeys” - Mitsuha has decided to have her hair cut shorter. This indicates that she tried to feel Taki in herself imitating the short hair of boys. Apparently, she is searching for what she really wants to become. “Impact of the past” - The decision made by the Mitsuha, her friends, and her father saved the lives of local people and they are still alive (answer to be extended). ------Question (Part B):
