PATTERNS OF CATEGORISATION An Inquiry into Jewish and Christian Monotheism Dr Marvin Sanguinetti Research Seminar Paper for Research Group in Theology, Religion and Practice School of Humanities, Roehampton University [email protected] [email protected] 24/03/22 Introduction This paper is a hermeneutical inquiry into the binitarian and trinitarian structures for Jewish and Christian Monotheism. These four patterns are then classified taxonomically along an axis of theistic models and interpreted with Jewish Monotheism in the foreground. The study shows the relationship between Jewish Monotheism and a belief in two distinct figures – Yahweh and Jesus, the latter called Christological Monotheism.1 Christological Monotheism is already accepted by the academy as a plausible framework. The paper attempts to give credible interpretations of how post-Classical Trinitarian theologies are rooted in earlier Trinitarian-Monotheistic traditions. This paper not only explain the classification of four theistic theories and how they fit into a discernible pattern of categorisation along the taxonomic axis, but it also demonstrates the correspondence between Jewish binitarianism and trinitarianism in its non-monotheistic forms, as featured in the studies of Peter Hayman, Margaret Barker, Daniel Boyarin, and Jürgen Moltmann. T. Wright in his book The Climax of the Covenant, pp.114, 116, 129, 132, 136. 1...
