COURSE OBJECTIVES 1. To establish the usage of basics of engineering graphics in product design. 2. To introduce the concept of product design. 3. To introduce graphics software and apply graphics software for devloping product model. COURSE OUTCOMES On completion of this course, the students will be able to
CO1: Sketch orthographic projection of points in all the quadrants and lines as per 3rd angle of projection. CO2: Drafting orthographic projection of 2D planes and surfaces using 3rdangle of projection. CO3: Draw free hand sketching of solids in isometric view into orthographic projection as per 3rd angle of projection. CO4: Sketch isometric projection of solids, and learn perspective projection of solids. CO5: Understand the concept and principles of product design using engineering graphics. CATALOG DESCRIPTION With fast changing technologies and sophistication in industry, the students need to learn product design and apply the concept of graphics in product design. In this course the students will understand the concept of design, the principles, morphology and process of design and understand the realm of engineering graphics. Next they will learn about orthographic and isometric projection of solids, freehand sketching, solid modeling techniques, different kinds of assembly, limits, fits and tolerances, and model solids using AutoCAD. At the end, the students will be doing a hands-on project applying the concepts learnt. TEXT BOOKS
