Description

MRSC2150 Diagnostic Radiography Methods IIB (Trial Exam) READ THIS. This is a trial examination for the MRSC2150 Subject. It should give students an indication of the knowledge content, the depth of knowledge, the question weighting, the style of questioning, and the general difficulty. Please note the word indication. This trial exam is not prescriptive in any of these factors, in any way. Students are encouraged to read widely, including sources external to those indicated in Course Outlines, and to develop strong holistic knowledge.

SUGGESTIONS. I suggest that you undertake this trial without influence. Just print it out, give yourself five minutes reading time, and write down your honest answers. Don’t listen to other student input before undertaking it. Try to create as close to an exam situation as you can. No distractions. No Google. No phone. Then discuss it with those who have completed it. If you look at an answer before completing it, you’re only cheating yourself of an opportunity.

I’LL SAY THIS ONE MORE TIME: This exam is provided as a courtesy, to indicate the sort of knowledge base you should be headed towards. It is provided so that students can be as well prepared for the examination as possible.

Modified Essay Questions. Answer all questions in the spaces provided, or clearly indicate the location of the correct answers. Instructions Read the following instructions carefully. Read the scenario given, and answer the questions that follow, giving as much detail as possible, displaying the full extent of your knowledge and understanding. Your answers should demonstrate critical thinking and clinical reasoning which are based on evidence and fact. References are not required. Supplementary diagrams, in conjunction with your written answers, may be used. Each scenario is divided into a series of chapters, which inform you of the journey of the patient. You are advised to read the scenario completely before commencing any answers. For all the scenarios that follow, consider the following to be true: 1. You are the sole radiographer in a country district hospital, the Generic District Hospital. 2. The medical imaging department is equipped with a general X-Ray unit and an OPG machine. 3. The general room has a fluoroscopic unit. 4. You have access to a normal department’s amount of contrast. 5. You have access to sandbags, sponges, markers, and all other standard positioning aids. 6. The Emergency Department is equipped with a mobile X-Ray unit. 7. The Emergency Department beds have cassette-holding trays built in. 8. You have access to no other modalities (CT, MRI, Ultrasound) at this centre, but patients may be sent to other centres for imaging as required / requested by the medical team. 9. All films are transmitted to a radiologist at the next major regional hospital which is 60km away via teleradiology. You have no on-site radiology support, and for the purposes of this exam, you have no senior staff to whom you may defer any questions. Finally, with regard to the request forms, assume that the signatures on the request forms are legal, the text is legible, and that the date is correct. You may remove the appendices (request forms) from the paper for ease of use, but they are retained by the invigilators for this exam.
