Practicum Project Proposal...

Description

Keegan Linwood 201594519 Practicum Project Proposal 1. The preliminary idea for my employment enhancement project is to expand and promote Big Sky Fitness through new partnerships, sponsorships, and practices. Key objectives will include increased promotion, marketing and outreach of the gym. The more people that hear and know about our gym, the more likely we'll be able to attract members and expand into more locations. 2. To do this successfully I'll have to use my existing network and reach out to people I know to create new partnerships. I will also be working to expand my network by working with various people I didn't previously know. The main person I’ll be working with is Big Sky Fitness’ Business and Relationship Coordinator Tood Leyte. I can work with him to understand how Big Sky works with other businesses and try to bring new partners into the fold. The evidence of work I’ll submit as a deliverable will be to scan any new memberships created from my work, and show any business exchanges (Ex. 10 SportChek discounts for 10 discounted memberships to Big Sky). I believe this idea will enhance my practicum experience as well as work towards the betterment of the company. 3. Big Sky Fitness is a smaller gym with two locations both in South Calgary with over 1100 members combined. Because of this, not many people are aware of Big Sky Fitness as a gym in Calgary. Compared to GoodLife and World Health, Big Sky Fitness is a relatively unknown company especially in North and Central Calgary. That's why I believe it's essential to expand and promote Big Sky Fitness as a brand. The more people that hear and know about our gym, the more likely we'll be able to attract members and expand into more locations. 4. February 14th – Start working with Todd and understanding how Big Sky does business February 21st – Learn and identify any opportunities for partnerships with Big Sky February 28th – Research and start contacting potential agencies for partnership opportunities March 7th – Meet with agencies that are interested in partnership opportunities March 14th – Follow through and implement new partnership opportunities March 21st – Offer corporate memberships to businesses who work with us March 28th – Create and collect deliverables for practicum project for grading April 6th – Submit deliverables and write up before this date 5. One of the challenges I expect to face during this enhancement project is businesses not being willing to be partners with us. Not all businesses see the mutual benefit towards business partnerships with non-competitors, which can create a barrier towards expanding the business. To counter this, view

Keegan Linwood 201594519 it as free marketing. Most of these businesses I’ll be contacting will be unaware of Big Sky’s existence, so just getting our name out there can be considered a positive benefit. Another challenge I may face is company’s not seeing equal value in business exchanges. They may view their discounts they give us as more valuable than our discounts we give them. To counter this, we can offer discounted corporate memberships as a little bonus for doing business with us. Not only does it create more value to them, but it creates more business for us as we can potentially get new members in the door....
