Description

Surname 1! Student’s Name Professor’s Name Course Date Pros and Cons of Distance Learning For Grade K-12 during the Pandemic Distance learning involves undertaking a study outside the classroom. It is a form of learning that began long ago, even before the pandemic came to picture. This type of study has been criticized following the fear of tuition fees, absence of student-teacher interaction, legitimacy of degrees, and accreditation. There are several advantages and disadvantages to this type of learning. The first advantage of online learning is its ability to provide several chances for tailored learning. As stated by Jwair, Amani and Abdullaha (374), this kind of learning provides a platform for students to choose and explore subjects of their interest. Secondly, the mode of learning does not allow distraction. There is limited social interaction; hence students can concentrate more on their studies. Learners are given personal social circles through activities which they decide by themselves. Freedom to take lessons at their schedule is another advantage of online learning. It allows flexibility, especially for students during their learning. They can study alongside other duties. Additionally, online study enables parents to monitor and control their children's learning closely. Finally, this education mode saves time and money by removing additional costs, such as accommodation, infrastructure development, and traveling fee costs. There are several shortcomings of distance study as reported by Thapa, including the family's critical involvement throughout the learning process (205). It adds responsibility to the

Surname 2! family since they have to adjust their duties and activities in helping the student. Difficulty in friendship creation outside the classroom is another disadvantage of this method since there is no face to face interaction between them. Apprentices lack opportunities to connect with others. Lastly, distance learning makes students carry out their learning in a confined environment. They lack the chance to ask direct questions from both fellow students and teachers. In conclusion, this mode of study's success involves the training of tutors to be excellent instructors and correctly coordinate the learning process. The offering of diverse courses to students also contributes to the success of learning. Children can be motivated during this pandemic period to take part in distance learning by setting reasonable goals and rewarding them accordingly. Online study has more benefits than drawbacks hence should be adopted.
