PSYCH 635 CLIENT AND LEARNING THEORY PRESENTATION NOTES AND SLIDES WEEK 5 Introduction The following PowerPoint will cover how the basic tenants of theory can influence the study of learning, how the workplace can apply the psychological theory of learning, examples of how research methods are used to study the process of learning and, APA ethical guidelines that may be relevant. Forensic Psychology  Explanation of Forensic Psychology

Forensic psychology is a part of psychology that actually relates to the law. People who work with forensic psychology are ones that usually work directly with the criminal justice system. When explaining forensic psychologic one would use the legal system in order to apply the principles and practices. A forensic psychologist would actually study the way that human behavior would be related to the legal process. Basic Tenants  Attention  Retention  Motivation  Reinforcement

Attention is the first one on the list and this can help by adapting the person to their environment (Schunk, 2016). The attention can help in motivating people and helping them in retaining the information. This in turn can help with reinforcement of the behavior that is learned. This is where the goals can come in and play a part as all of these basic tenants can lead up to the goals that one would need to achieve. In order for one to learn they need to pay attention to what is happening around them and what they are being told. When it has to do with retention this is where the person will have to retain the information in order to remember it when it may come up at a later time. Motivation plays a part as there needs to be something that will make the person want to act or behave the way as in something will have to make them want to do it. Psychological Theory and the Workplace  Employee Behavior  Observation

 Encouragement  Consequences

The way that employee behavior can be influenced would be that one would want to model the behavior that they would like for their employees to have. The people who are within the company would need to follow the behavior in order to model it instead of just ordering the employee on how to behave and act. This in turn will help the employees on how to understand what is wanted from them. Employees would need to be observed in order to make sure they are following the behavior that is warranted of them. While they are being observed if there is something that is not going right then someone with authority would need to step in and help the individual. Encouragement is a part of the psychological theory in the workplace and should be done with making the employee feel good about what they are doing and verbally be told so. Consequences are a part of it and these are what need to be put into place if the employee is failing at what they are suppose to be doing and how they are behaving. Research Methods  Experimental Research  Observational Research  Descriptive Research

Above are three different research methods that can be used. First the experimental research can help in one understanding what the nature of learning is. This is where they will experiment by making changes to see how it all works out (Schunk, 2016). Observational research is where they will observe the person and see if they actually did learn what they were being taught. While observing the person it will tell the one observing if the person has got the general concept of what they were taught and if they are acting it out. Descriptive research which is also called qualitative research can be used when the person who is doing the research is basically interested in the structure of events and how they happened. This is where it would play a large part in forensic psychology. APA Ethical Guidelines  Confidentiality  Privacy  Discrimination

Confidentiality, privacy and discrimination are all part of the APA ethical guidelines that are relevant to this presentation. Confidentiality is one that needs to be upheld in order for everything to be kept confidential and that is where privacy plays a part. Also unfair discrimination is one that would need to be followed and can be relevant to this presentation. Conclusion After reviewing this PowerPoint it should give one a good idea on how all of this works with Forensic Psychology. While there are many different and other research methods that can be used to study the process of learning this PowerPoint gives you a few examples. It also covers and gives one an idea of the psychological theory and how one would apply it to the workplace. The basic tenants of theory and how it influences the study of learning were also covered....
