Assessment 1 Graphic fiction and flash fiction as 21st century literary genre, were popularized during their initial releases. A lot of people were entertained by them during earlier years about 2001 and onwards. Since they are fiction, they are product of author's creative imagination and sometimes fueled by reality so readers can relate to it. Both of them were written with concepts, ideas and themes that are contemporary, meaning to say, they may tackle recent issues and controversies. Lastly, they were pillar of modern day literature because they are reflections of today.

1. The characteristics of "My Freaking Alarm" and "The Unlucky Winners "that are similar are their plots that are both complete. Since both of them are short story. it will only take a minute to finish both fictions. Next is they appear realistic to me especially the characters and events even if they are fictions. They allow me to imagine what the story is. Lastly, it reflects our society that's why it is relatable. 2. The characteristics of "My Freaking Alarm" and "The Unlucky Winners "that are different were the fact that "My Freaking Alarm" is a graphic fiction that was narrated with illustration and words. It is relatable because we've been on the same page. And It allows me imagine and experience the characters and events through illustrations. On the other hand, "The Unlucky Winners "is brief, the word count is quite low. It has a mind-blowing, shocking and twisted revelation in the ending. And It made me think deep to understand what really happened to Pete that shocked Jim, the connection and revelation was awesome. What Have Learned 1. The 21st century genres that were discussed was graphic fiction which is a comic book narrative that is equivalent in form and dimension to the prose novel. The pictures are arranged in sequenced in image panels and dialogues are written in speech bubbles. And flash fiction which is also known as micro stories, nanotales, postcard fiction that is imaginative literature of extreme brevity. 2. What makes graphic fiction distinct is its narrative that is equivalent in form and dimension to the prose novel. It encourages interactivity in the minds of the reader as he fills in the blanks between image panels.
