Quick ECG Interpretation Cheat Sheet 1. Are the QRS complexes equally spaced apart?
Yes-Normal Rhythm
No- Arrhythmia (Sinus or abnormal)
2. Is there a P-wave for every QRS?
Yes- Sinus Rhythm
No- Atrial Arrhythmia or ectopic beat
3. Is the heart rate between 60-100 bpm?
Yes- Normal
Less than 60 bpm- bradycardia
Over 100 bpm- tachycardia
4. Does the PR interval measure between .12-.20 seconds?
Yes- normal
Longer than .20 seconds- conduction delay/ heart block
Shorter than .12 seconds- possible ectopic beat or atrial arrhythmia
5. Is the QRS narrow, less than 2.5 small boxes?
Yes- normal QRS
Wider than 2.5 small boxes- Bundle branch or fascicular block
6. Is the ST segment isoelectric with the PR interval?
Yes- No lack of blood flow to the heart
Depressed- Possible blockage in one of the arteries
Elevated- Lack of blood flow to the heart (HEART ATTACK)
7. Is the cardiac axis within normal range?
Yes- between -15 and 105 degrees
RAD- 105 to 180 degrees
LAD- -15 to -90 degrees
