Recitation (R3) Worksheet Objective: Learn how to find references and write a proper ACS reference in your lab reports. Assessment: Write five (5) references in ACS style, following the directions below. These may or may not be useful to you in Lab 3: Bioavailability of Iron. I.

Open ACS-Style – References. https://libguides.williams.edu/citing/acs and follow the instructions to identify how to format references correctly. a. Identify how to write in-text citations b. Overview the formats and examples presented in the Style manual for: i. Citing a computer program ii. Citing an encyclopedia iii. Citing peer-reviewed papers iv. Citing information from a government agency v. Citing a book Additional citation information: On-line citations require a url or a DOI. The url is not appropriate since you are logged into your own account through the library. Instead use the DOI, if it is available. Digital Object Identify (DOI) is a unique way of identifying content found in digital format. It is usually found near the publication information but is sometimes found at the bottom of the relevant page. If the DOI is not available, please use the Web of Science url through the OU library in your answer (https://libraries.ou.edu/content/web-science) Additional citation Information: a. **Journals are cited using the Journal Abbreviation. See CAS Source Index (CASSI) search tool at the OU Library.

Go to the Chemistry-Biochemistry Library site and open 1315/1335 page. Write correct ACS References for the following types of Information:

Cite Reference Works: Access Encyclopedia of Physical Science and Technology (3rd ed.) on the OU library page. Search for the article “Vitamins and Coenzymes” & then search for iron within the article. You must be logged into the (1315/1335) Library page to use this Encyclopedia. Googling only gets sites to buy the book.

Cite a Peer-Review Paper: Use Web of Science (at the library) to find one of the following papers and properly cite it, including the correct Journal Abbreviation (see CASSI). Cite information from an Agency. Cite the “Recommendations to Prevent and Control Iron Deficiency in the United States” in ACS format. The United States government provides a lot of information on many different subjects.
