Assessment 1 task 2...

Description

Assessment Task 1: Reflection Weight: 15% Due: 5pm Monday, 15 March 2021 Submission: Submitted through Turnitin This assessment task requires to you discuss aspects relating to your own personal heritage and family history. Heritage is not restricted to the preservation, restoration or display of historical buildings, monuments and archaeological sites. It includes cultural and religious practices, language, inherited traditions and intangible factors relating to the ways in which people or communities identify themselves through ideas, memories or common beliefs. Question: Consider an object or tradition belonging to your family and discuss why it is evidence of your personal heritage.

Approaches and issues that you might wish to consider when writing your Reflection: 1. Describe the object or outline the tradition in sufficient detail for the reader to understand it. 2. Explain how old is the object or tradition, as far as you know 3. Outline the function of the object or context for the tradition (e.g. is it concerned with family weddings; meals or commemorating some person or event) 4. Explain the provenance of the object (i.e. what you know of when it was made, where it came from, how it came into your family’s possession) or the origins of the tradition (when and where did it originate). If an object, how do you know it is genuine; if a tradition, do you

know whether it has it evolved over the years, and can you explain how or why? 5. What do you consider to be the significance of the object or tradition for your family and your family’s history 6. How does the object or tradition reflect your family’s place and role in wider society (e.g. Does it indicate the class or profession to which you family once belonged or belong now; does it denote your family’s national, cultural or religious background now or in the past, etc.) 7. What makes the object or tradition meaningful to you?...
