Description

Richelle Rios ENG 1001H In the frame narrative, which describes Captain Walton’s voyage to the attic, Shelly establishes a number of important themes in her characterization of Walton that will help us understand both Victor and the monster later in the story. One example is in the second letter he writes when he says ”But I have one which I have never been able to satisfy; and the absence of the object which I now feel is a most severe evil.” (Shelly, 54) This will help you understand both Victor and the Monster because once Victor abandons the Monster, he ends up coming for revenge and is enraged which makes Victor perceive the Monster as evil.
