NOTE: The depth is an average of measuring in different spots, since my sand layer did not settle evenly across the bottle.

2. Use the soil text pyramid below to determine the soil classification of your sample (for example, clay loam, silt loam, sandy clay, etc.). You need to apply your calculation results, to draw on the pyramid to determine the soil type and write your soil type in the designated box below. 2.1

Place your soil type in the box (30 Pts) sandy loam / i cant figure out how to draw on the image and it is stuck inside of the text box.sil

Ribbon Test 1. After performing the ribbon experiment, use the decision diagram below to determine the soil texture category of your soil (for example, clay loam, silt loam, sandy clay, etc.). Please show your drawings on the diagram helping you to find out the soil type.

Place your soil type in box (30 pts)

silt loam

2. Compare the result from the jar test and ribbon test. Did you get the same soil texture? What are the possible errors in these tests? (10 pts) No. I did not get the same soil texture. In the ribbon test there can be lots of errors. For instance, if the consistency of the soil mixed with water is different. One can add too much water or too little water and the texture will feel different when rubbed with both fingers. Additionally, too much water can make it so a ribbon does not form. The jar test has a lot of errors too because if one measures incorrectly or adds too much soap the ratio will be off and will cause errors. 3. Include clear photographs of your soil sample from both soil texture test (at least one for the sediment test and one for the ribbon test) below or upload as separate files in the Soil Lab dropbox in D2L.
