Reinventing HR for a digital workforce During the last decade, the workforce has undergone one of the most rapid digitalization. Spotify leaders who never imagined their employees working from home they were among the first to adopt this method especially in Australia as their cities locked down. Due to shifting work to become remotely, Technology earned a critical and important role in the HR world, from virtual interviewing to remote onboarding and performance management. Technology has affected on every part of the employee’s life. Michael Kim, Head of Human Resources APAC at Spotify said that the change can be very difficult, however; the pandemic has forced the organization to change on a very fast track since it wouldn’t have happened for at least another few years if the pandemic was not exist. As for Spotify it was in a strong position, it relied heavily on technology to maintain highly collaborative and social teams. They used Facebook workplace and many social platforms to share company updates and maintain the sense of community online, provided channels for employees to communicate. The most important change for Spotify was when they rolled out global work from anywhere policy, through these platforms they understood that their organization need is how to make these platforms more engaging, more personal, and more human, so they allowed the employees to choose where and how they work, work can be fully remotely fulltime or in the office or hybrid where the employee has no need to live near Spotify office. This has changed the way the company scouts for talented employees. Now, Spotify believes that they can continue growing since they are not bound by location anymore, they can grab and identify talent from anywhere in the world. Spotify’s company culture drives innovation and without it, collaboration and creativity would crumble, Spotify is to be able to have a growth mindset and to not look at what other companies are doing, but look internally at their own people....
