Assignment Summary

In this assignment, you will create a bank brochure to attract new customers. The purpose of the brochure is to provide information to show that your bank has the best options for a checking/debit account. You will research at least three local banks of your choice. From your choices, pick the best option as the bank you will promote and encourage others to join. Using reference materials and Internet sites, you will collect information about the benefits and disadvantages of the banks you selected. Useful references for gathering this information are at the end of this document. You will include a works-cited document along with your completed brochure.

Assignment Instructions Step 1: Gather materials and necessary information. a) You will collect the following data for your bank brochure: 

Search for three local banks. Find the benefits and disadvantages of each bank’s checking accounts. o

Step 2: Consider the required elements of the brochure. a)

Open the document named student input brochure template. Your brochure should have six panels (see Figure 1 below).

b) Panel 1 will serve as the cover of the brochure. It should have a title and introduce the reader to the purpose of the brochure. It usually contains a hook to get the reader to open the brochure. In addition, it should include an image of your choice, your name, your teacher’s name, and the due date of the brochure. c)

Panel 2 should include checking information about your first local bank. 

Be sure to include the bank’s name, address, and details about the bank’s checking accounts.

Panel 4 should include checking information about your third local bank. 

Panel 5 should include the reasons you think one bank is the best choice. Include a small chart comparing the banks. Discuss the benefits and disadvantages of each bank to show why your choice is the best.

Step 4: Cite your sources. a) Create a works-cited page at the end of the brochure. Click the tab insert and then click page break. This will add a new page to the end of your brochure document. Title the page, Works Cited. b) On this page, create a list of the resources you used to complete the research. A simple list of website titles and addresses (URLs) is acceptable. If you used print sources, list the title, author, publisher, city, and date. Step 5: Evaluate the brochure using this checklist and the rubric provided. a) Make sure you have used spellcheck and saved your document correctly. b) Grade yourself by going through the rubric. c) Discuss your brochure with another student and go over each other’s brochures to make sure you both have done a good job. Talk about what you can do to improve your brochures. d) Complete the checklist below. When you can answer “yes” to all of the questions, you are ready to submit your brochure. Yes

a) If you were unable to answer “yes” to all the questions on the checklist, revise your brochure with the help of the improvement suggestions you obtained and save your brochure before submitting it. b) When you have completed the brochure, return to the virtual classroom and use the “Browse for file” option to locate and submit your assignment. You have created your brochure. c) Ask your teacher for further instructions about whether you will be presenting your brochure to an audience of your peers.
