War between Siagrius (Roman king) and Clovis (son of Childeric) over territory (Soissons)which was lost by Clovis’s kinsman, Ragnachar, to Egidius a long time ago – Clovis won the battle and Siagrus fled and went to king Alaric (Toulouse). Clovis prepared to wage war against Alaric if S was not returned – S brought back in chains and executed. Clovis, was supreme and sovereign leader, despite the insult of a foolish man who delivered a blow to a holy vase, stolen by Clovis’s army. This man was in denial of Clovis’s leadership and consequently suffered a blow to his axe by the king himself in the same way he did to the vase After 10 years of reign, C made war or the Thuringi and came out victorious Youngest daughter of King of Burgundy, Clotilda, found by one of C’s envoys, who brought her back and had her wed to C, under his orders  criticism of the Frankish Gods by Clotilda (at the time of their firstborn’s baptism) calling him powerless. The baby died shortly after, and Clovis, angry, blames HER god for not letting him live War with the Alamanji, Clovis’s army getting destroyed, so addresses JC, calling on him to make him victorious, which he is once the opposing army realizes their king is killed  switches God Clovis tells his people to switch their loyalties, and venerate “the immortal God”, as he was advised to do by St Remi, bishop of Rheims  baptismal event to celebrate this new path (candles, tapestry, decorated squares etc.). C baptized first (cross of Christ), then 3000 of his men. War between the brothers Gundobad and Godegisel: Godegisel asked Clovis for military aid, in exchange for yearly recompense. C accepts. Victorious (Godegisel backstabs his brother, having promised with him to fight against C to defend their shared territory). Gundobad flees to Avignon Clovis prepared to seize G and have him killed: G writes to his adviser, Aridius, calling for help. A tells him he’ll pretend to flee from G’s rule, side with C and advise him not to kill G or attack his territory  DOUBLE AGENT. Received by C. Advises him to order a yearly tribute by G, for saving his life: C now rules over his land. Food was becoming scarce under Gundobad’s rule: decides to expel the commoners, in an effort to protect his own interests, so that he doesn’t starve: artisan who was designing the aqueduct was angry, and went to Godegisel, telling him of a secret passageway into his brother’s lair. The armies fight in the town. Godegisel slain, senators who conspired slain, and present Franks exiled to Toulouse (Alaric) Friendly alliance forged between Alaric and Clovis Battle with the Goths: C almost killed (saved by chainmail and fast horse), King Alaric slain, Amalaric (Alaric’s son) flees to Spain and rules over his father’s kingdom; the Goths driven out Clovis goes to Tours, and is blessed by Martin ; then goes and stays in Paris C sends letter to Sigiburt’s son, Cloderic, telling him that his father was growing weary and that when he passed on, they would share the kingdom. Cloderic, anxious to rule and inherit his father’s treasures, has his father assassinated. When Clovis’s men came, Cloderic was killed by them: Clovis offers his protection to the kingdom, and is welcomed into rule.







Clovis orders the capture and execution of Chararic and his son, who, when called upon for aid when fighting with Siagrius, did not act and waited until the outcome to befriend the victor  Clovis then takes their kingdom and rules Ragnachar, unpleasant King who ruled over Cambrai, was disliked by Clovis, who sent his army armlets and belt to attack him- but Clovis attacked them, slew Ragnachar and his disagreeable councilor, Farro Dies in Paris ; wife goes to Tours, and stays with Martin...
