This!course!provides!a!general!introduction!to!the!discipline!of!psychology,!the!scientific!study!of!behavior.!The!class!will!provide!you! with!a!snapshot!of!the!major!components! of!psychological!research,! ranging!from! the! biological!bases! of!behavior! to!group! social! behavior.! The! course! will! involve! (1)! assigned! readings! in! the! text,! (2)! class! lectures,! (3)! discussion! sections,! and! (4)! exposure! to! psychological!research!methods.!The!lectures!will!not!merely!repeat!what!you!can!read!in!the!textbook;!instead,!they!will!provide!a! focused!discussion!of!more!specific!issues!in!psychology,!using!examples!and!demonstrations!to!reinforce!important!concepts.!Two! hints!for!getting! the!most! from!this! course!are!to! (1)! attend! lecture! and! discussion!and!
