Tech Notes: This course will require a personal computer, Internet connectivity, knowledge of the internet, and knowledge of email, and Microsoft Office. Moodle is the main system used to deliver this course. All of our classroom activities will take place in the Moodle online environment. To participate the on-line course, you must have high-speed internet access and compatible browsers (e.g., Chrome or Firefox). The access may be at home, at work, or in the campus computer lab. Software minimum requirements include Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel. As well as Adobe Acrobat Reader (Free at www.adobe.com). You must understand how to access material on Moodle. If you have additional assistance on the Moodle or encounter technical difficulties, you should contact LSUS IT Services at (318-797-5221; [email protected]) or access the Moodle tutorials (https://www.youtube.com/user/moodlehq/featured). Computer, power, ISP, or related failures not directly caused by Moodle will not be accepted as excuses for missed exams, late assignments, or other neglected activities. Because technology failures are not uncommon, it is strongly recommended that you submit assignments well in advance of the deadline, allowing yourself time to correct technology and other failures without missing a deadline. Technical problems are not excuses for missing any exams!!! Course Expectations and Policies

➢ Your primary responsibility is to be prepared for each module. To get the most out of this course, you should attend every class meeting. All the material contained in the text will be presented in the online lectures. Therefore, it is important that you make every effort to keep track of the course plan at weekly basis. You are expected to pursue each weekly reading, assignments, discussion forum, quiz, and exams. This is only a 7-week course (AP2) and we will cover contents within a short period of time. Do not let your falling behind.

➢ Discussion Forum and quizzes: weekly discussion forum and quiz up to module 6 will be posted on the Moodle on the Monday of each week (12:01 am CT) and initial post due and reply to classmate due on the Sunday of each week (11:59 pm CT). You are expected to address each topics critically and reply to at least one student’ post. Each quiz (15 questions) is open on the Monday of each week (12:01 am CT) and closed on the Sunday of each week (11:59 pm CT).

➢ Reading Assignments and Recommended Problems: weekly reading assignments will be posted on the Monday of each week (12:01 am CT). Each week, the recommended problems will be provided for students to enhance the knowledge and computational skills. The solutions of the recommended problems will be provided on each Friday of the week.

➢ Late works are normally not accepted considering the time provided for each student to complete each weekly task. If students have unforeseen emergencies such as illness, injury, hospitalization, deaths in the immediate family, consequences of severe weather, and other crises that severely prevent them from completing the weekly assignment, quiz on time or even final exam, Students should contact instructor as soon as possible in these cases.

Class Communication ➢ Email: email is the fastest way to get to me if there are some urgent or confidential matters and would like my answers right way at [email protected]. You must indicate FIN 701 (Your Last Name) in the subject line. Otherwise normal response times cannot be guaranteed. If you have the questions regarding the course contents, please use the questions and answers forum. The reason is that my answer to your questions might also answer some questions of other students. Practice Problems

➢ Each week, two practice problem sets (both sets cover different contents of the module) are provided on the Moodle at the beginning of each week. Solutions will be provided at each Friday of the week. Students are required to work on those problems since similar ones in Multiple choice format will be on the exam.

Practice Exams:

➢ Before each exam, two practice exams (15 multiple choice each) will be given solely enhance students’ exam preparations. However, the practice exams are not part of your’ final grades.

Exams:

➢ Three exams will be given, and each exam is consisted of 25 multiple choice questions. 50% of it is consisted of the conceptual questions and 50% of it is consisted of the math problems. The final exam is non-cumulative. You only have one attempt for each exam.

➢ Test material will be derived from reading assignments (Class notes, practice problems, and practice exams), and class discussions (Over 80% of test questions will be derived from practice problems). All exams are closed notes tests and will be proctored using the record and review service ProctorU. Outside assistance of any kind and copying/sharing questions in any format are strictly prohibited and will be considered a violation of the LSUS Code of Student Conduct, MBA Honor Code, and copyright law. The instructor will not administer individual make-up exams. Exceptions will only be made for those unable to take an exam during its scheduled time and have a university sanctioned excuse. Proctoring (ProctorU):

➢ All exams in the MBA program will be proctored using ProctorU. You are strongly encouraged to review the ProctorU Resources page in each Moodle course prior to taking any exam. Below is a summary.

➢ ProctorU Pretest: A pretest is required before you can take your first proctored assessment. The purpose of this ProctorU Pretest is to ensure that all students have tested their equipment and are aware of the Proctored Test Protocols prior to taking a proctored exam. Completion of the pretest with a grade of 100% is required by Thursday of the first week. The last access time for the ProctorU Pretest is Thursday of the first week by 11:00 p.m. CST.

➢ Test Entry: ProctorU requires a live ID check and live room scan. Students must have a government issued form of identification with a picture. If appearance has changed, the student may be asked to supply a second form of picture identification. The first time a student begins a ProctorU exam in the MBA program, the student will be asked to authenticate themselves by answering general questions from public data. This initial authentication process will occur during the first ProctorU Pretest the student takes in any

MBA course. The authentication process for subsequent exams will only require the live ID check and live room scan. ฀ ProctorU provides proctoring services to students every ten minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Therefore, when you contact ProctorU, you may be required to wait up to 10 minutes to be served. ฀ The initial authentication process can take as long as 20 minutes after you are connected to a service representative.

➢ Last Access vs. Close Time: The last time students will be allowed to login to access and take an exam with ProctorU in Moodle is based on the length of the exam plus 30 minutes. The last access time allows students time to complete the live ID check and live room scan and then have the full amount of time to complete the exam. ProctorU will prevent entry into an exam after the last time to enter (length of the exam plus 30 minutes). Below are examples of last access times for exams: If your exam lasts for 30 minutes, you must log into ProctorU and Moodle no later than 60 minutes before the test end time to access and take the exam. ฀ If your exam lasts for 1 hour, you must log into ProctorU and Moodle no later than 90 minutes before the test end time to access and take the exam. ฀ If your exam lasts 2 hours, you must log into ProctorU and Moodle no later than 150 minutes prior to the test end time to access and take the exam. ฀

➢ The close time for the exam indicates a final time the exam must be completed in Moodle. The close time is NOT the same as the last access time. At the designated close time for the exam (final time to complete the exam), Moodle will submit any open exams and close the exam at that point in time. Students are responsible for understanding the difference between the last access time and the close time of each exam in the MBA program. Final Case Analysis:

Student will work in a group and read and analyze assigned case study. Each group will be responsible for completing one final written case assignment for 20% of the final grade. The case is designed to encourage students to collaborate to apply their learnings presented in the course readings to the real issue on hand in a group setting. The final case is due at the Sunday of Module 6 at 11:59 pm CT in Moodle.

Last day to drop the class with 100% refund, Wednesday March 11, deadline. Participation/Attendance It will be easy to fall behind if any modules are missed. Students will be responsible for all announcements made during class time. Students are required to complete all course-related activities including required readings, completing the homework assignments, quizzes and exams on time, and responding to the discussion forum. Your on-line activities will be monitored as Moodle maintains a log of when you open documents and/or post to discussion boards. It maintains the full text of all your postings. ฀ Mandatory Accreditation Day (MAD): All accelerated online programs in the College of Business at LSUS now include an 8th module to collect required assurance of learning data. This module is set aside specifically for assurance of learning, and no course-related activities are allowed to be performed after the closing time on Saturday, as set by your Professor. This day of data collection will not influence your grade in the course and must be administered after the conclusion of the course content. Therefore, an online assessment will be available on the Monday of the 8th week. Your participation is necessary for us to
