Carlson NR, Published by Pearson, 2014 Course Description: The course will be a comprehensive discussion of the nervous system including: ♦ History of the study of the nervous system ♦ Cellular composition of the nervous system and functions of each cell type ♦ General organization of the nervous system ♦ Electrical communication; the resting and action potential ♦ Chemical communication; synapses, neurotransmitters and receptors ♦ Neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of somatic and auditory systems ♦ Learning and Memory

To develop an understanding of the basic organization of the nervous system and how it is connected and functions to allow sensations to occur.

Assessments: You must show your ID on exam days Four Exams. For Exams 1, 2, 3, each has 100 points. Exam 4 (final accumulative exam) has 200 points. The lowest score of exams (1, 2 and 3) will automatically be dropped . Format: multiple choices, matching, completion, quantitative analysis and graph questions.
TOTAL: 400 POINTS
No Makeup Exams. The lowest exam score of Exam 1-3 will be dropped automatically. If you miss an exam, you will receive a “zero” and that is your lowest test grade that will be dropped. But you have to attend the final accumulative exam, which will NOT be dropped.
