BA 411 6:30-8:00pm FS QUIZ #1 09/10/2021 1. Among the TAO of Excel, choose 2 and explain their significance to excel. Cite examples. Traceability is one of the TAO of Excel and the significance of it is that, the data can be traceable, especially to those people who don’t have any idea or are new to the model. It allows them to understand easily of where the data come from. Also, in any case that there will be a problem or issue with the record in Excel, they will be able to trace it smoothly. From the information I have read on the Internet, there is what we called RTM or Requirement Traceability Matrix. It is used to track requirements and ensure that the current project requirements are met. It would serve as a one-stop shop for all testing activities. Then, there is Consistency. I think this one of the most important in managing data in Excel because it would be easier to have the data in the same denomination. By this, it would be so much easier to understand since it is in neatly presented. An example that pops on my mind is the feature in Excel, the Filter. Let’s say, I misspelled the word ‘East’ to ‘Est’ in the data and it’s not just one or two misspelled words but more? This could cause problems with certain formulas or PivotTables, so it’s important to correct this error. Thus, click the Filter in Excel, the drop-down menu will appear, deselect all correct words (e.g. North, East, West, and South), click Ok. After that manually correct the misspelled words. 2. How can you use visualization in accounting and auditing? I think data visualization can help improve the effectiveness and efficiency of audits. To properly assess the risks of material misstatements and identify accounts that are open to error or manipulation, it would easier to use data visualization like Forecasting. It is in our knowledge that Forecasting is the process of making predictions based on past and present data and most commonly by analysis of trends. Thus, using this kind of data visualization, I think it would help in auditor’s focus as this is more flexible and easier to understand compared to traditional table. 3. Why would an entity be interested in using a relational database? If I would run a company, I would be interested too. Mainly because the system is organized and it can be tracked easily. For example, the first table is consist of customers’ information (name, contact information, and unique ID). Then in the second table, the customers’ orders information are found (e.g customer’s ID, product ordered, the quantity, etc.). The unique ID of each customer is the common thing on these two tables. Therefore, when customer A orders, it will be automatically record on the database the transaction of customer A to the entity. Basically, relational database is simple yet can have great impact on the transaction system of the company for it can track inventories, process ecommerce transactions, manage huge amounts of mission-critical customer information, and much more....
