Lampacan, CPA, Llb., MPA No. of Units : 1 Unit Semester & SY: 1st Semester 2014-2015 Department / Track: Taxation (?) I. Course Description and Objectives This course is the study of Customs and Tarif Law. It covers the discussion of the Tarif and Customs Code and relevant rules and regulations and jurisprudence as well as current issues, if any. Course Description The course will introduce the basic concepts and principles in the Tarif and Customs Code. It will discuss its Constitutional basis, the general concepts, legal remedies and related procedures as well as some comparison with provisions of the NIRC on enforcement of collection, among others; as well as the impending efectivity of the so-called "Asean Integration.. Course Objectives Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: I. Gain knowledge on the fundamental principles and concepts in Tarifs and Customs Code; II. Develop technical and procedural knowhow and skills in analyzing cases applying the pertinent law and jurisprudence; III. Develop confdence and profciency in the application of the Code for purposes of giving legal advice and in defense of clients, and V. Most importantly, be equipped with the needed learning to be able to answer questions in local and in the BAR exams related to the Code. II. Methodology The main methodology that will be used for this course would be lecture and class recitation or participatory class discussions where students will be rated as part of the criteria in computing for grades. However, the following are the list of methodologies that shall be used in this course: X Lecture; X Class recitation / participatory class discussion; X Case Analysis; X Problem-Solving of hypothetical cases; X Essay Writing; X Case Digest preparation; X Hypothetical Cases; X Individual / Group reports and presentations, and X Refection / Meditation (while on lecture break). III. Course and Classroom Policies 1. Attendance will be checked. 2. Mobile phones and other gadgets shall be in silent mode while inside the classroom. 3. Electronic devices for taking down notes and reading purposes are allowed, however, when called for recitation should not be looking at notes including these devices.
