Describe the difference between moral (ethical) systems and legal systems. An ethical system does not have any concrete or specific laws, but rather, it is based on standards of conduct, and principles of value and morals. Ethical systems stem from the social construction of reality through culture and tradition. A legal system is one in which standards of conduct, and principles of value and morals are organized into enforceable measures with clear consequences spelt out. People learn to conform to the law as a whole and accept their legal obligations, sometimes only to avoid punishment. However, within an ethical or moral system a group may follow certain principles and seek creative solutions to get out of ethical dilemmas, such as installing licensed software on one computer and sharing it with an entire network rather than copying and distributing it. Within a legal system what you see is what you get: you do you “die”, you refrain you “remain”. That’s about it. The difference is that, within an ethical system people tend to be motivated by reason, as against a legal system where people tend to be motivated by results....
