Description

TITLE: THEODOLITE TRAVERSING Traverse survey: Traversing is that type of survey in which a number of connected survey lines form the framework and the directions and lengths of the survey line are measured with the help of on angle measuring instrument and a tape respectively. In other words, a traverse defined as the course taken when measuring a connected series of straight line joining two points on the ground. The straight lines between two consecutive traverse stations are called a traverse leg. The angle at any station between two consecutive traverse legs is known as traverse angle. Traverse Leg Traverse Station Fig: - Traverse The traversing, in which traverse legs are measured by direct chaining/taping on the ground and the traverse angle at every traverse station is measured with a theodolite, is known as theodolite traversing. According to the nature of the starting or closing stations, the traverses are classified as under: Closed Traverse Open Traverse Close Traverse: A traverse which either emanates from a station and close on the same station, or runs between two stations whose co-ordinates are known in terms of a common system of co-ordinates is known as closed traverse. Traverse, which close on the starting station, are also sometimes known as traverse circuits. In closed traverses, accuracy of linear as well as angular measurements may ascertained / checked. It is used in Bridge survey, Topographic map etc. Subdivided into - i. Loop Traverse ii. Link Traverse Link Traverse originates from known coordinate points (position fixed) and terminated at another known coordinated point. 1...
