NOTE: Do not install any improper or damaged components. Wiring must be performed to meet current electrical code requirements. Installation Instructions:       

Install NMD90 cable from breaker panel to the required outlet boxes. Be sure to install according to the CEC rules. I.e., points of support, correct length of wire in box). Connect switches and light. Connect to panel with correct size breaker. Have instructor review finished connections. Instructor will then “Power On” completed circuit to allow for circuit testing. Answer all questions for this lab listed below.

Questions: State the CEC Rule number if the code book is used. 1. How many 3-way switches are required on a circuit that controls a light from 5 different locations 2 three way+ 3 four way switches in between of three way switches.

2. What is the maximum voltage allowed between any two conductors of NMSC? 300V according to CEC rule 12-502

3. When the 14/3 black and red wire are run from the brass screws of one 3-way switch to the brass screws of second 3-way switch, what are the black and red wires called in this situation? Black-hot, red- traveller wire

4. [ T / F ] NMSC cable shall be run in continuous lengths between outlet boxes, junction boxes, and panel boxes as a loop system and the joints, splices, and taps shall be made in the boxes Answer: True according to rule 12-506 5. [ T / F ] Where the cable is run through studs, joists, or similar members, the outer surfaces of the cable shall be kept a distance of at least 32 mm from the edges Answer: True
