Together, You Can Redeem the Soul of Our Nation Rep. John Lewis' optimism regarding "the next chapter in the great American story" can be fulfilled in the 21st century. Throughout the article Rep. John Lewis points out some problems today including, systemic racism, Black Lives Matter, and the need to vote. He talks about how this generation needs to act and make important life changes so that we can “let freedom ring.” First, in reference to John Lewis, the article says, “each of us has a moral obligation to stand up, speak up and speak out.” This means that this generation must have its own voice regarding the state of society. This matter’s because it shows that John Lewis is optimistic about how everyone can and should speak up. It implies that this generation and everybody can make a difference. His optimism is also shown when the text says, “Ordinary people with extraordinary vision can redeem the soul of America by getting in what I call good trouble, necessary trouble.” This means that we are tasked with differentiating between “good trouble” and “bad trouble.” This matters particularly for those who care about doing or making a difference in the right way. In conclusion, Rep. John Lewis' optimism regarding "the next chapter in the great American story" can be fulfilled in the 21st century. The authors article about John Lewis optimistically shows that there is hope and there can be a better hope for tomorrow....
