Unequal Opportunity Race

2 Unequal Opportunity Race My general understanding of the United States history based on equality hasn't been rightfully addressed since people of color gain freedom from slavery. While watching the video, my reaction to it was very much about how slavery has caused so much social discrimination, bias, and racism. It also reminded me of structural discrimination's various ways. It pushed a massive inequality gap between races; events such as segregation, wealth disparities, discrimination, poor schooling indeed divided equality between African-Americans and whites. It was that a white person as greatly benefited from the system of structural racism than AfricanAmerican. While watching the video, it made me very annoyed and sad about how unfair the whole system and how the past has affected us today and in the future. The gap in equal opportunities keeps rising without any stop or solution to fair opportunities. It's annoying how people have to deal with underemployment or discrimination and racism in school or workplaces, although the amendment has abolished slavery. Social unjust from law enforcers and the public still surfaces up. The whole thing is so sad that, being a person of color, we have to deal with all these issues and discrimination hopelessly. Being a man of color myself, I have to deal with racial profiling and beat any negative stereotypes or discrimination in any circumstances or situation. The video where an arrow pointed at a resting area for the African-American woman with beautiful houses but such opportunity as been blocked due to housing segregation made me remember about redlining. Banks and the real estate industry used red ink to practically outline areas where people of color lived. If you stayed beyond the red lines, banks were less likely to lend or invest because you were deemed a risky borrower.

3 To sum up, everything stated so far while watching the video about the inequality between African-Americans and the privileged race. My reaction to it was just a reflection of what I know and how these factors affect me as a colored male or could affect me....
