UNIT 3: PASSIVE VOICE  PASSIVE VOICE ACTIVE TO PASSIVE • The passive voice is used to emphasize the action, with transitive verbs (taka an object) • The object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive sentence • Verb: To be (same tense) + Past participle • The  subject  of  the  active  sentence becomes the agent of the passive sentence, at the end of the sentence

and preceded by the preposition “by”, only when it gives important information PASSIVE WITH TWO OBJECTS • Passive sentence with the indirect object as the subject • Passive  sentence  with  the direct object as the subject, so it’s necessary the preposition “to” before the

indirect object IMPERSONAL PASSIVE • Verbs: say, think, believe, know, expect, suppose, consider, report, claim, acknowledge • It + To be (same tense) + Past participle + (That) … • Passive  sentence  with  the subject of the main sentence (after that) + To be (same tense) + Past participle
